Titans NRL
The Gold Coast Titans are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the western suburb of Mermaid Beach, Queensland, Australia. It is one of the two major rugby league clubs in Queensland, along with the Brisbane Broncos. The club was formed in 1997, as an expansion team to the National Rugby League competition and currently competes in the National Rugby League’s 2017 season and beyond.

The Titans have previously been known as the ‘Gold Coast-Tweed Giants’ and the ‘Gold Coast Chargers’.
The Titans were formed in 2008 as a joint venture between the Gold Coast-Tweed Giants and the North Queensland Cowboys, who wished to remain in the NRL competition. The team initially featured many former players from around the country, including New Zealand’s Steve Menzies (who would later become club CEO), England’s Ben Cross (who would become club president) and Australia’s Greg Bird.
A consortium led by Michael Searle founded the club.
The Titans were founded in 1997 by a consortium led by Michael Searle, Craig Paterson and Jeff Raider. The club is based in Alderley Park and played its first game on 15 March 2000 at Birchgrove Oval before moving to the now-closed Group 10 Jubilee Oval in 2002.
He carried over the name and logo from an Australian Rugby League club he hoped to found on the Gold Coast.
He had no experience in sport management of any kind, but Daryl “Mick” Maguire simply loved the atmosphere and culture of rugby league. He was a rugby league player and coach, who was born in New Zealand, to Australian parents. His family moved to Australia when he was young, and they grew up watching the game on TV and following it on the radio. He played at club level with the Queensland Rugby League team and toured England as part-time player with his brother while studying business administration at university (where he met his future wife).
The team debuted in 2007, playing their first premiership game against St George Illawarra Dragons at Skilled Park in Robina.
The Brisbane Broncos have won the NRL premiership three times and four times, including in 2006 and 2006. The Titans are a former New South Wales Cup team who were formerly known as the Gold Coast Titans and today play in the National Rugby League. They were formed in 2007 after their inaugural match between St George Illawarra Dragons and the Gold Coast Titans.
The inaugural coach was John Cartwright and co-captains were Luke Bailey and Scott Prince.
Jordan Rankin will make his debut on the weekend in round 13 against Gold Coast. Cartwright was coach for just one season with the Titans, winning just one match.
