The Minnesota Wild are a professional ice hockey team based in St. Paul, Minnesota. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Wild have played their home games at the Xcel Energy Center since 2000. They were founded in 1998 as an expansion franchise, and became one of six NHL teams that began play during this era to win their first Stanley Cup championship within nine years of entering the league (along with Dallas Stars/Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars (now Arizona Coyotes); San Jose Sharks; Tampa Bay Lightning; Chicago Blackhawks). Minnesota has won two Presidents’ Trophies (awarded to regular season champions) as well as two conference titles and two division titles.

NHL Draft 2019: Minnesota Wild Select Nikita Alexandrov at 62nd Overall

Nikita Alexandrov, a left wing from Russia, was selected by the Minnesota Wild with the 62nd pick in this year’s NHL Entry Draft.

The 19-year-old Alexandrov played for Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL) during his four years there. He finished his junior career with 45 goals and 212 points in 179 games.

Alexandrov has represented Russia at several international tournaments including an appearance at the 2018 World Junior Championships where he scored five goals against Switzerland while also winning silver medals at both Under-18 and U20 level tournaments as well as playing in European championships as recently as 2017 with Team Russia Under-18s before moving up to play for U20 team later that year.”
