The Canberra Raiders are coming to town this weekend. The Raiders will play their opening game at home on Saturday 7th of May against the Souths Logan Magpies. The season will start with a big get together with all the players, coaches and fans meeting up to mark the beginning of their 2016 campaign. This year, there’ll be some differences made to your usual pre-season schedule. The first thing you’ll notice is that there’s no Eels game due to their busy schedule. But before we talk about those changes, let’s see what are the important games for this season:

Within the past week, the Canberra Raiders has been playing against some of the top teams in the NRL. The Raiders hosted the Gold Coast Titans at GIO Stadium on February 15th and they were able to defeat them 16-8. This result caused them to move up to fourth place on the ladder with an impressive 14 wins and four loses. The next game was played on February 22nd against the St George-Illawarra Dragons at Skilled Park in Sydney, which resulted with a victory 24-22.

During this season, there were a number of interesting moments including some close encounters with victory and defeat. As a form of background information, Derek’s mother, Cynthia Carr are well-known in their hometown of Denham Springs. The family moved to the Bay Area when Derek was nine years old. They lived on Alameda and MacArthur Blvd., still in the same house that Derek now rents from his mom. While in Denham Springs Derek joined the football team at Parkway High School where he led them to their first state championship as a senior quarterback in 2011.
